Review: "HarmoKnight Demo" (2013) "Game Freak's HarmoKnight Demo Hits All The Right Notes."

REMEMBER to BECOME a FAN by LIKING our FACEBOOK page: Our Honest View

HarmoKnight is a downloadable game from Game Freak. The same developer who brought the likes of Pokemon and Yoshi.

This demo follows Tempo as is introduced to a muscial world. Your guide a rabbit named Tappy. These names aren't just puns but truly fit.

The demo plays like a Mario side scroller game. You have to constantly jump to collect notes and use your staff to beat enemies while running. You can also interact with the flowers in the levels which are set up like musical notes giving. Striking them not only gives you notes but also helps you progress.

The game has beautiful background music but it has gaps, and that's where Tempo fits in. You constantly have to be jumping to collect notes (Like coins in Mario) and striking your enemies this fills in the gaps of music with more sounds.

That's where Tempo's actual name fits in. You have to listen and time each strike to fit the tempo of the songs, use measures. You can look at the game as sheet music, reading it left to right. Your timing is key to collect notes, fill in gaps and beat enemies otherwise the demo causes you to repeat that level.

Check out this gameplay and it'll demonstrate what I mean.

Now like I said earlier this game is developed by Game Freak so they're many scenes with Pokemon blimps and balloons in there air giving a nod towards Game Freak's most successful series. The cut scenes feel like your playing a Super Mario Bros. game which is always a plus.

I had one problem with the demo and it's minor. When the game goes into shaking cut scenes this makes the 3D aspects unbearable and I have to switch back to 2D just for those scenes.

Our Honest View gives HarmoKnight Demo 5 out of 5. This demo is probably one of the best side scrollers I've played that's not Mario. What's even better is this game is only going to be 14.99$ with a tentative release date of March 28th, 2013.
