The Tales of series has been going on for the past 15 years and on August 6th Tales of Xillia will be gracing us with its beauty and as a old school Tales and JRPG fan I'm really excited and you know what you should be as well!

Tales of Xillia is the 13th “mothership” game in the series and by far one of the most anticipated. Xillia sports some pretty impressive graphics, Namco-Bandai is finally letting you control the camera in and outside the battle. Why is that a big deal you ask??

Because this forces Namco-Speaking of characters Xillia is the first game in the series to have two main characters.

Jude Mathis is your male protagonist. Jude left his hometown to start training at a hospital in the town of Fennmont. When some weird things in the laboratory in town goes down, Jude runs into Milla Maxwell, your second and female protagonist of the game.

Milla is on a mission to Fennmont to investigate a large group of spirits that have died, and in true JRPG fashion this leads to some one grand ass adventure.

Combat in Xillia is slightly the same as the other games in the Tales series. Combat is real time and you control one character at a time, with you others being controlled by the AI that you can set to your fancy.

If you wanted to make Leia only use healing spells and have Milla just to attack flying monsters, the Tales has always been good about giving you option about controlling your characters without controlling them. The new thing the Xillia is the DR lines.

This Links two of your characters in battle together to pull off bigger combos where you can juggle a enemies  in the air, use the d-pad to switch to another character and keep the combo going that way until you pull off a double attack . This improvement  will without a doubt make combat more fluent and a lot more hectic. (in a good way)

Since there is already a Tales of Xillia 2  in Japan, I have no doubt that if Xillia does well in the states the Xillia 2 will without a doubt come state side if gamers do the right thing and support the Namco-Bandai and buy the game new and go pre order it at you local Gamestop. (we need Tales of Xillia 2)

Bandai to pay attrention to the backgrounds and oh boy did they ever. This game looks pretty impressive from the character models to the buildings in the background that Namco-Bandai made to scale with the character models to give the game a more “realistic” fell and it works.

If your familiar with the Tales series at all you will know that the characters always looked more cartoonish, Xillia still has the anime vibe but with more of a “grown up” look if you will. Characters are full size lush and damn cute.
