Review: "Warm Bodies" (2013) "Who Knew The Beatles Were Right And All You Need Is Love."

Warm Bodies is truly a play on Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", not to get to much into plot but don't Romeo and Juliet have to movie hell and high water just to be together in a nearly impossible time. Well that's this movie for ya!

Warm bodies, the tale of "R" (played by Nicholas Hoult) and his revival from undead to human. R narrates the movie, giving simply hilarious input into already very funny scenes.

He's the perfect kind of awkward, zombie shuffle, grunts and shrugs All present. His...girlfriend/obsession Julie, (played by Teresa Palmer) was great. She's battle hardened and beautiful, an excellent mix for our zombie concoction. For some reason R refuses to eat Julie even after eating her boyfriend Perry (played by Dave Franco) by eating his brain he also learns all his memories and will also "save" Perry from coming back to the dead. Giving R the edge in the movie due to knowing everything Perry knows and remembered about Julie.

R's best friend is nicknamed "M" (played by Rob Corddry) which is a play for Mercutio and in my opinion he's clever, but nothing to write home about. With exception to a very well placed scene or so I feel like he was almost filler, or a last second edition. Not exactly terrible just didn't catch my interest. He however tried his best and would not give up on getting Julie and R together because he felt in his heart (that's right his heart) they could save the undead.

Julie's best friend Nora ( played by Analeigh Tipton) was awesome. For lack of better wording without ruining plot, she's just the girl you want for a best friend with or without zombies.

The side characters acting seemed like they wanted to push the rules of a PG13 movie the closet they could to a R. Shakespeare's play is intend for older audiences so why not give this movie a R rating to match R's name?

Moving to the movie plot...its just weird. I'm usually a very open minded person but I'm not gonna lie, "zombies need lovin too!" REALLY wasn't what I have in mind when I say open. That being said the movie is laugh out loud hilarious.

The last couple years have shown this hopeless post apocalyptic themes forgetting what makes humans, humans and leading into desperate times. This movie however through music makes nods at the fact that older music inspired the music genres and kept music scene going.

Which also leads to our title, about the Beatles. However did they overlook the Beatles' message "All You Need Is Love." With this advice the last couple years of hopeless in zombie movies could be demolished or maybe in only in this film.

Greatest Review's gives "Warm Bodies" (2013) 4 stars out of 5. R is really the kind of zombie you can get behind after you forget the necrophilia jokes in your head. He's the Jonah Hill or Michael Cera of zombies. Even for a awkward movie that uses weird themes and elements it sure is well put together.
