Monday night's new hit "The Following" begs one question for viewers and of course for the audience, "Who can you trust and who can't you trust?"
Carroll's "cult" or "following" seems to dig deeper in this episode going into details on how he convinced a few of them to join his cause. He is seem as "God Like" figure because of his charisma.
We meet a new character Special Agent Debra Parker (Annie Parisse) who seems to know more than she's letting on though she is a specialist in cults.
Shawn Ashmore's character Mike Weston is not at all cold like his previous role as Iceman in the "Xmen Films" he is smoking hot. He's a tech savoy, FBI agent idolizing Hardy.
Not to go into to much detail on this episode however, Carroll who has his son's babysitter Emma Hill kidnapped him the previous epsiode has room arragned just like the boys so he feels more at home. This was easy seeing as Emma was feeding and spying for Carroll for over two years. Great character development is used in this episode also using the flashback feature to give more detail.
We get so entranced in this show that the actors that are brainwashed are doing double duty and pull it off so well.
We also learn that Hardy and Carroll's ex-wife Claire had a affair which entangles Hardy into being more of Carrolls second chapter. It also leaves us wondering is Claire more involved in this then she saying. I think she may have some repressed feelings for Carroll or maybe a killer herself.
One of Carroll's protege Jordy (Steve Monroe) who helped him escape, seems to always be one step away of the police and Hardy though he is sloppier than Carroll. Hardy is able to subdue him after a struggle though. And another masked man character is introduced after attacking Hardy. The mask the person wears was found in Emma's old apartment and resembles Poe himself.
The title of the episode really fits the series. It is the second chapter of a new book between the to characters. The final scene depicts Parker giving Carroll a Poe book while in jail. This seem to be reminded me of a Jesus like image. Now that he has his book back, he'll be able to begin getting more followers to keep this game going.
Greatest Review's gives "The Following" (Chapter Two s1/ep2 2013) 5 out of 5 stars. For truly not only living up to it's name but also living up to the episode title! Man this show keeps getting better and better. They could add in a million more characters and we'd be fine with it because they know how do delvelope them!
