For months EA hyped this as one of the best games for 2013 and the best in the "Crysis Series"
For starters it was a nice Pre-Order bonus from GameStop to get the "Hunter Edition" which inlcuded a digital copy of "Crysis 1" and Day 1 access to the new predator bow, plus some other online perks.
I am going to jump back for a second though. The single player for the game is not very long. I myself played it on it's most hard difficulty Supersoldier and was able to beat the game in under 7 hours. I also got most of the trophies in the process.
I did also spend time playing the tutorial mode of the game which goes into depth on how to use each on of Prophet's nanosuit moves. This is very vital when your playing on the game's hardest difficulty. Otherwise you'll have no idea how to blend in or use maximum armor to survive hoards of attacks. Ironically the only advice and hints the game gives is when you die and it loads you back into the game. On the screen it'll give you tips on surviving longer.
Some main flaws in the game is the targeting system. It's suppose to auto lock onto enemies when you use your scopes etc. but it doesn't however and you find yourself having to aim have to the time without any help making the game even more difficult. While this game has some of the most beautiful cut scenes graphically, gameplay is harsh looking and ends up half the time looking like "Halo 3". I mean this is the "Crysis" series we are talking about the game that pushed graphics cards on the computers to the limit. Limits that weren't even possible 5 years ago. There was multiple missions in the game where I also gave up on the game because I couldn't seem where I was suppose to jump to get somewhere or where to go or who to follow because the graphics are so dark, dim and not put together. Plus if you run up to kill a guy with melees or kick objects at them they die just like your playing "Protoype". Don't get me wrong, "Protoype" is one of my favorite games but I figured the gaming world would be becoming more advanced not going backwards.
Besides graphics and auto locking features another HUGE flaw and probably the most annoying thing ever is the map! The map shows Prophet as a yellow triangle with your objectives as blue triangles and unless the enemies spot you or you target them with your nanosuit, guess what color they are...? You guessed right yellow as well. Making it very difficult to deceiver who is who. Besides that the little map in the corner of your suit you really can't see land marks or if the objective is above or below where you are. You MUST then constantly pause the game and hold down the left button to see a bigger map then L2 to zoom in on said map. If I am playing as a badass and in a badass nanosuit I don't want to be pausing every six seconds to save the world, I want to kick some Ceth or Cell ass.
Now lets get to the actually story of "Crysis 3" it was rather short, boring and played awful lot like "Halo Reach" meets "Marvel's Avengers". I loved the cinematics though, it was like watching a beautiful movie with epic explosions and "Oh Shit" moments. The campaign however seems to drag on with 6 main episodes if you will. The first 2 seem to have nothing to do with the game. Not to bring spoilers but your in the water, then New York jungle, then the City, then wasteland, then Ceth mines, then Space THEN THE EPIC ENDING. Not going to ruin it but the graphics for the ending blew away any cut scenes of "Far Cry 3". The hardest of the missions is the first one because you don't know your suppose to follow your friend and when you loose him you have to search a freaking ship to find him, NOT fun. The last couple of missions truly drag on and it finds you jumping A LOT, and running far and far distances to find places and every time you get close to your Primary Objective another Secondary appears sending you off course.
Finally let's go into the multiplayer which I must say is the best I've played since "Transformers War For Cybertron" hit the scene. You have just about the same options for game modes as you do in "Call of Duty" but better. For me I was able to start with plus 5 XP due to my pre-order bonuses plus I had the hunters bow. The map in the multiplayer is a lot better except remember it's nanosuits vs. nanosuits so you know what that means. When someone uses stealth they disappear off the map. However if you get close to them you can start to seem them. This means you have to look in every inch of a building before you start to set up shop. I decided that since I didn't see anyone I would start sniping out the window. Little did I know that there was 2 guys on the other team using stealth right next to me. They easily killed me of course. Another cool thing is you can use your super strength or to kick cars are opponents or even super speed to run away. Another cool thing that sets this game apart is your playing in the maps set from the campaign so turrets and other weapons are still there at your dispose. So you can go stealth walk up to a turret and let the opposing team have it.
